Horse & Carriage

This very specialized service is offered on the East End by a select few who have the right equipment and vehicle, along with the horses suitable to the task. Since it is more of a hobby service these specialists don't generally advertise. Ferry to/from Connecticut

The Cross Sound Ferry provides service from New London, CT to Orient Point daily. Many New Englanders choose the ferry to avoid the drive through the NYC metropolitan area. After their "sea voyage" across LI Sound, they disembark at Orient Point, the furthest eastern point of the North Fork. Those originating from Long Island utilize the ferry for trips to Mystic, Ct. and the casinos! The ferries carry cars and foot passengers. There are decks for outdoor sitting and closed in areas in the event of bad weather. Food and beverage are available also. Sip a glass of North Fork wine as you cruise across Long Island Sound, one of the most beautiful bodies of water on the east coast.

Ferry to Shelter Island

One of the features that makes Shelter Island so magical is that you can't just drive there. It is a wonderful place for a wedding, honeymoon, or day trip, but to reach it, you need a boat or a plane, unless you are very strong swimmer. This 11 square mile island between the North Fork and South Fork is a wonderful land bridge to connect the villages of Greenport and North Haven/Sag Harbor. Fortunately there is regular, year-round ferry service. It is a shuttle service with payment as you board-cash or check only. No credit cards.
