Bed & Breakfasts are plentiful on the East End. Though most don't offer "hotel" amenities such as in room phones or television, they all provide the welcoming environment for which B&B's are so noted. Some townships limit the number of rooms, so except for a few that have been "grandfathered" most have a maximum of five rooms. Many B&B's are historic and all of them are decorated beautifully. Breakfast, either hearty continental or formal sit-down, is always provided. Because the B&B's are also the homes of the owners, decor and offering vary greatly, so you really should read descriptions and check out the websites. There are stairs and there are pets! If you have never stayed in one, you are in for a treat!

A true Victorian jewel, Arbor View House was built circa 1820 by Captain Vail when whaling was a major industry on the East End of Long Island. The historical nature of the home has been carefully maintained by innkeepers, Veda and Wilfred Joseph. With a nod to the newest industry on The North Fork, Long Island Wines, Veda and Wilfred have named their guest rooms after wine varieties such as Champagne, Merlot, and Zinfandel. This juxtaposition of the old and the new makes this charming inn the perfect location to explore the past and experience the present. The inn offers wireless internet, and whirlpool baths in a totally Victorian ambience. Spa services are available so you can have a massage in your room featuring an old fashioned red velvet headboard. Walk to the beach, sip wine in front of the fireplace, or tour the wineries after enjoying a sumptuous breakfast. This B&B is also very close to Greenport, a true harbor village, where you can ride a carousel or take a harbor cruise.

When you walk through the doors of Ruby's Cove Bed &Breakfast for the first time you will feel transported to the age of rumrunners and speakeasies. And you will feel perfectly at home. The quaint seaport village of Greenport is full of seafaring flavor with 21st Century amenities, and you find just that at Ruby's Cove. Situated in the heart of Greenport, where all the fun and nightlife is, Ruby's Cove is within walking distance of nearly everything. Restaurants, shops, dockside munchies and libations (in season), art galleries, a marina, a carousel, and even an ice skating rink. The wineries are a short drive and the popular and fabulous micro-brewery of Greenport Harbor is literally steps away right next door.
When we checked out reviews for this fabulous historic Victorian home, we found only glowing 5-star ratings. It's no wonder that there are so many satisfied customers when the host is as gracious, kind and friendly as innkeeper Donna is. Folks rave about her Ruby's Red Rumrunner French toast, and with good reason, but early risers be warned—Ruby's Cove is about languishing and relaxing, so coffee service begins at 8am or earlier if requested with a very filling breakfast at 10 am. We love that, because it allows time to sleep off the hangover or for an early morning swim, stroll or bike ride through lovely Greenport, where the water is never more than a block or two away. Your stay even includes a free bike to use while you are there!
It's a romantic and fun destination suitable for a wedding night, pre-wedding planning or mini-moon and also great for a guys, gals, friends, couples, families full house rental getaway. It's an excellent home base for the wedding party. Spas and salons are just around the corner and sailing charter fishing boats and golfing are nearby. They say that rubies are more precious than diamonds, and this rare gem proves why.
