Reception: Event Planning, Caterers, Venues, Wineries & Vineyards
Planning your wedding reception or any other event on the North Fork can be fun and easy. There is a host of choices: wineries, catering halls, private properties, public properties, and restaurants. North Fork Weddings showcases the finest professionals here in wine country so we hope you take time to browse our site! Of course, if you prefer, North Fork Weddings provides in house consultations and full event planning services. We welcome you to see all that North Fork Weddings can do to make your event attain the vision you have.
North Fork Event Planning
North Fork Weddings is not an event planning service, but we can help you find one. While it can be fun to plan your own event, having a true professional can make all the difference. Not only are they adept at handling the myriad of details that are inherent in any large event, but they can also help select the service providers most suited to your needs. Many property owners are more comfortable allowing the use of their premises when an event planner is in charge and often properties are only available through the event planner. If you are planning an event from a distance, it is imperative that you utilize an event planner. If you are planning a corporate event, you need to know that your event is professionally handled so as to reflect positively on your company. Brides should enjoy their weddings as should their families and friends.
While North Fork Weddings does not plan events, we do respond to all e-mail inquiries and will be happy to answer any questions you might have. Please e-mail us at info@northforkweddings.com.

A Gala Event puts the Special in "Special Events". This innovative production company and unique entertainment and talent agency owned by Hugh Wunderman goes far beyond the definition of "full service" as they can produce anything your mind can imagine. Indeed, they are well known for their corporate and gala events, but some may not realize that they also plan and produce weddings and children's parties. What could be more special than those times in our lives? Experiential theme weddings have grown very popular because they transport the occasion from the expected into the imagined. They are fun and the most memorable! If a bride and groom have a special interest, this company will make it a part of their day. What if the happy couple loves Broadway or the smells of a Hawaiian garden, antique cars or Disney movies like Cinderella complete with the glass coach and horses, maybe the couple particularly loves Egypt or mountain climbing? Short of bringing in the actual Mt. Everest mountain range, A Gala Event will transport you and your guests there. A Gala Event will create and manage your event from thought to clean up; so all you have to do is enjoy it! Children love interactive theme parties. I remember giving my own daughter an "Annie" themed birthday party when she was five years old. When she graduated from high school, the yearbook included a photo of her and her classmates from that very Annie party held 13 years before. Want to build some special long-lasting memories of your own? Call A Gala Event and ask to speak to Hugh- the Chief Dreamaker. Experience what has led clients like Coach, Mayor Giuliani, Saks Fifth Avenue, American Express, Tavern On The Green as well as the famous and not-so famous to trust Hugh and A Gala Event with their most important lifetime events - Exceeding Expectations Since 1980. Whether the event is a wedding, corporate fund raiser, charity gala, or an intimate
anniversary party, the food has to taste good. But no matter how delicious that
lobster, sushi, or steak the event must also be presented in good taste. Good taste
guarantees that the event is exciting, not garish, that the menu is unique, not pre-set,
that the service is impeccable, not over bearing, and that the total experience be
memorable for capturing the spirit of the occasion. Amber Occasions is the quintessential
upper crust. The analogy that springs to my mind is that Amber Occasions is the Audrey
Hepburn of caterers and event planners: classy but fun, creative but constant, and in
the end, finding happiness. If style combined with delicious food, creative
presentations, experienced staffing, and extensive experience sounds like your cup
of tea, give a call to Amber Occasions.

Corinne has been in the event and wedding business for over twenty years and has earned her reputation as a true professional. She offers not only her organizational skills and deep reservoir of vendors and contacts, but also the eye of an artist. (Her hand painted silk chuppas are displayed in museums, and serves as lasting tangible memories for bridal couples.) When she shared with me some of the comments past clients have written to her, I laughed aloud when one described her as "human valium." Indeed, she does have a calm persona and maintains such an aura of confidence and serenity that she can smooth over not just ripples, but big waves too! What I think is particularly wonderful about Corinne is her understanding that each situation requires different services. If you wish to make all your arrangements yourself, Corinne offers "on site management" just for the day. If you want her assistance in the total planning a one day event, a destination wedding, or corporate event, she has the experience and talent necessary. She is available in The Hamptons, The North Fork, and New York City.

The ClamMan 235A North Sea Road Southampton, NY 11968 (631) 283-3354 www.ClamMan.com
The East End has changed over the past twenty five years, and to be sure, it has a slightly different face than our grandparent's first saw. At its core, however, it is a seaside community with a style found only in this corner of the world. Since 1982 The ClamMan has been operating a seafood market providing catering for parties and events from The Hamptons to Manhattan. Though it offers a wide diversity of catering options, it is probably most famous for its, you guessed it, fabulous clambakes! Want beaches? The ClamMan knows where they are from Montauk to Westhampton and from Riverhead to Orient AND they know how to access them for you. Naturally, there is always a Plan B in place in the event of inclement weather. If you love the taste of the sea, but prefer to indulge at your city digs, The ClamMan is very experienced in bringing the shore to the city. (In case you didn't catch it, the name came from people saying "Let's call the clam man!" Sounds like a great idea, doesn't it?)

Hallockville Farm Museum and Folk Life Center 6038 Sound Avenue Riverhead, NY 11901 (631) 298-5292 www.hallockville.com
Hallockville is unique natural staging area. The only "flash" is a shooting star across the dark night sky; the only "glitz" is the reflection of sunlight on the open fields. As almost all East End locations require, a tent is necessary to accommodate larger groups, but the beautifully restored barn provides indoor space for a cocktail party, band, and dance floor. The open beams and warm woods of the barn's interior are a designer's dream. Although eminently suited to a country design, skillful designers can turn this space into just about anything! The tent can be erected to back up against the barn so that the wide barn doors provide a natural opening between the two structures. The grounds are populated by historic buildings, many of which date from the 1700's. The location is convenient as it is close to the Hamptons, LIE, and is in the heart of Wine Country. If you prefer originals to copies, nature to fake waterfalls, and space to walls, Hallockville will speak to your inner self. East End Experience VIP Benefit Click here!

However, tent weddings are very popular here and they allow for the full appreciation of the gorgeous location. Another big plus to this venue is its accessibility. If you are having guests who must travel the Long Island Expressway, they will be so delighted to be able to end their journey in Riverhead, only a few minutes from the last exit. Jedediah Hawkins Inn 400 South Jamesport Avenue South Jamesport, NY 11947 (631) 722-2900 www.JedediahHawkinsInn.com
The Jedediah Hawkins Inn is the newest venue and the oldest historic landmark offering services for private parties and special events in the North Fork Wine Country. This Victorian mansion was built in 1863 and went from being a grand family estate to a house in disrepair over the course of time. In 2003 restoration work began and today its formal elegance has not only returned, but improved with the addition of a gazebo, naturally landscaped pond, colorful gardens, and endless farm views perfect for photographs that capture special moments. Chef Tom Schaudel, one of New York's most noted, will create a custom menu that will dazzle. It is an absolutely gorgeous place for a wedding and you are able to reserve the entire house and grounds if you wish. Lessing's Caterers at Martha Clara Vineyard Sound Avenue Jamesport, NY Contact: m.clara@lessings.com (631) 209-9359 Ext. 107 www.lessings.com
Martha Clara Vineyard on the Robert Entemann Estate in North Fork Wine Country is one of Long Island's premier locations for weddings and private events. No matter how many times I drive by it, the views are so beautiful, I slow down to drink them in. Sometimes I am treated to the sight of a horse and carriage moving slowly between the vines. The property has special memories for me as my family used to board their horses on the Entemann Estate and I well remember the beauty of the land. I also well remember the attention the Entemann's brought to everything. The buildings on the property are designed to fit in with the landscape and the character of the North Fork and are charming but spacious. In my capacity as an owner of a B&B, I have heard many first hand enthusiastic reports from my guests who were here to attend a wedding at Martha Clara. The marriage of Lessing's Catering with this North Fork Vineyard is truly a happy event for the Long Island Wine Country. This area is so special and it makes me feel personally proud that a company with over 100 years of catering experience has now become part of it. (See also: Event Planning and Caterers)

Schooner Mary E. Greenport Dock (right in front of Preston's) Greenport, NY 631-662-7925 www.schoonermarye.com
I appreciate the poet's words All I need is a tall ship and a star to steer her by having had the experience of sailing on the historic schooner Mary E out of Greenport Harbor. When this authentic 75 foot long clipper ship is under full sail, it is breathtakingly beautiful sight for the shore bound and an exhilarating and downright spiritual experience for those on board. Captain Eric Van Dormolen guides daily cruises, including sunset and wine cruises, charters, and offers group discounts. A spectacular way to celebrate any of life's great milestones be it graduation, anniversary, or birthday, it is also the ideal setting for corporate outings. The ship is great for wedding rehearsal dinners, all catered and arranged through Mary E, and even for smaller wedding ceremonies. How romantic and memorable would that be? Ram's Head Inn 108 Ram Island Drive Shelter Island, NY 11965 (631) 749-0811 www.shelterislandinns.com/ramshead/
One of the most charming weddings I ever attended was held at this gorgeous inn a number of years ago. It was held on one of those surprisingly grey mid September afternoons, but even the uncooperative weather could not detract from the beauty and ambience of the occasion. A Chamber Music Ensemble played on the front porch during the cocktail hour and for the ceremony on the lawn sweeping down to Coecle's Harbor. The cocktail lounge was cozy but roomy and the dining room classic. I even remember the food served as the menu was so elegant in its simplicity: sliced, juicy, red tomatoes, fresh green beans, dilled potatoes, and rosemary chicken. Ram's Head Inn holds that sort of character that only time can imbue and any event is guaranteed success. (See Restaurants, Lodging, & Activities)

Trumpets truly is an East End Pearl: of nature, of sea, and of perfection. The cedar shake "Hampton Cottage" design of this waterfront property offers understated elegance, glorious views of the bay, and an intimate soft décor. Guests wandering out onto the bayside decks, sailing into one of the slips, or just enjoying the views through the crystal clear windows experience the feeling of a private estate. White glove treatment prevails for weddings, private parties, and corporate affairs. The food is as superb as you would expect from an East End estate, deliciously fresh and beautifully presented.

North Fork Wineries & Long Island Vineyards
In recent years, the North Fork of Eastern Long Island, New York has become famous for its vineyards and wineries. (FYI, a vineyard grows the grapes; a winery produces the wines). Like the wines, no two wineries are the same. Each has its own unique flavor and personality. The wineries listed here welcome weddings and events. I have visited each of them and in the descriptions below, I share with you my impressions. Please be sure to go to the individual websites for specific information. Remember that weekends are very busy, particularly in the summer and during harvest season which is mid September to the end of October. While I encourage you to visit the wineries at these times, I strongly urge you to set up appointments to discuss your wedding plans either mid week or during the off season weekends. The staff at all the wineries truly wants to assist you in your wedding plans, but it's tough when the tasting room is filled with people! Some wineries have indoor facilities; at others you will need to have a tent erected. Tent weddings are very popular on the East End and they are gorgeous. Most of the wineries do not have in-house caterers, but there are many fine local caterers who do events at the vineyards all of the time. Rest assured that whichever vineyard you choose, you will have a wedding to remember for the rest of your life.

Drinking wine may be a pastime; tasting wine may be a delight; but distinguishing wine is a soul satisfying experience. Wine is, after all, an art form! To get the full benefit of its complexities and nuances, you need some education. An exciting new opportunity is now being presented by Grand Cru Classes. Offering three series of programs Wine Discovery Series, Great Grape Series, and Beyond the Basics, Grand Cru Classes urges us to "learn more about wine, one glass at a time." Embracing the entire process of wine production, the "classes with glasses" are held at local wineries and provide hands on opportunities. Private group classes can be arranged and I can't imagine anything more fun for a bachelorette party, a pre or post winery wedding event, a corporate outing, or just a way to entertain friends. Long Island Wine Country was begging for this sort of program and Grand Cru Classes has answered the call of neophytes and seasoned wine drinkers with experience, knowledge and whimsy! It was worth the wait for the completion of this winery's renovation as it is now one of the premiere locations for weddings and events on the East End. It is absolutely glorious. The designer must be a genius as she has managed to incorporate historical elements with the beauty of nature and balance of structure in such a way as to almost erase the lines. All two hundred guests that can be accommodated in the pavilion will have an unparalleled experience. The pavilion has a mahogany deck, high angled ceilings with incredible lighting, a huge bar, and is designed to allow elegant and easy service. The adjoining tasting room is perfect for late staying guests and there is even a loft that serves as a bridal party area. Wedding ceremonies may be performed in the orchard which has a wisteria laden long arbor entry. Bedell Cellars has an in house event specialist, Claire Day, who guides clients easily and professionally in planning their special event. This winery's commitment to excellence has now extended to events, and how lucky that is for us all! East End Experience VIP Benefit Click here!
Corey Creek is open for tastings and wine purchases and affords a lovely view across the vineyards from its tasting room. While this vineyard is no longer available for events and weddings, the vineyards and facilities at Corey Creek remain a perfect site for all those special occasions. Pellegrini Vineyards 23005 Main Road (Route 25) Cutchogue, NY 11935 (631) 734-4111 www.PellegriniVineyards.com
I have seen two wedding held here. One was classically lovely, with emphasis on the word "class." The other was a Renaissance wedding in which the bridal party and guests came in costume from that period. Pellegrini was the perfect setting for each. The winery/tasting room is built around a center open courtyard. The size conforms to tent sizing so that the roof can be covered. The courtyard opens into the tasting room and has a wide covered hallway that provides views and access to the vineyards. There is also a wide pathway through the vines leading towards a white gazebo. This is, of course, a wonderful spot to take photographs! I personally know much of the staff at Pellegrini, some since they were children. They are all super people who will work to ensure you have the perfect vineyard wedding.
