A true Victorian jewel, Arbor View House was built circa 1820 by Captain Vail when whaling was a major industry on the East End of Long Island. The historical nature of the home has been carefully maintained by innkeepers, Veda and Wilfred Joseph. With a nod to the newest industry on The North Fork, Long Island Wines, Veda and Wilfred have named their guest rooms after wine varieties such as Champagne, Merlot, and Zinfandel. This juxtaposition of the old and the new makes this charming inn the perfect location to explore the past and experience the present. The inn offers wireless internet, and whirlpool baths in a totally Victorian ambience. Spa services are available so you can have a massage in your room featuring an old fashioned red velvet headboard. Walk to the beach, sip wine in front of the fireplace, or tour the wineries after enjoying a sumptuous breakfast. A Walk in the Woods Bed & Breakfast in Southold is truly a hidden gem! Located on a secluded 11 acre estate, this Great Gatsby Dutch Colonial only feels like it's miles away from civilization. In fact, it is a short drive to town, an even shorter bike ride to the beach and convenient to the North Fork wineries as well as lively Greenport. A Walk in the Woods is nestled among the pines and oaks of the Bayview area of Southold with grand Victorian style accommodations that are simply luxurious. Entering the main parlor for the first time from the wrap-around porch, I felt like I stepped into Scarlett O'Hara's Tara. As grand as they are, the parlor and library are cozy, comfortable and quite welcoming. Relax with a good book and a glass of wine in the parlor or enjoy a game of pool at the regulation sized pool table in the library. Breakfast is served in the elegant formal dining room with continental style breakfast served in the adjacent butler's pantry. If you prefer some private quiet time, any of the guest rooms you choose will fit the bill. All have full private baths. The very large Vintage Rose Suite is perfect for a bride and groom to spend their wedding night and first days as newlyweds with a large king sized bed, private balcony, slipper tub and steam shower. For families and large groups the Oak Suite will do very nicely. A separate entrance brings you to a spacious apartment with a master bedroom and full bathroom as well as a sleeping loft and second full bath. It also has a bar with microwave, coffee pot and a flat screen TV. Whether you are seeking an intimate get away or accommodations for your wedding party, A Walk In The Woods will feel like your home away from home.

The Bartlett House is so gorgeous and the location is so perfect that I wish I could own the house myself! Fortunately for its guests, this uniquely large B&B is owned by Jack and Diane Gilmore who have put their hearts and souls into an extraordinary renovation project that put their stamp on this venerable property. Diane's impeccable taste has enhanced the architectural details in a manner satisfying to the purist, and her flair for showcasing Jack's collections from his world travels will satisfy the adventurer. There are ten rooms available and Diane welcomes guests with warmth and ease. The Bartlett House is one of Greenport's finest jewels. I have no doubt that in a short time this home will be listed as one of the best small hotels around in major travel magazines.

A good wager would be that absolutely no one could pull up to this gorgeous B&B and not say "Wow!"  The house sits on acres of landscaped grounds exploding with color and scents.  Vignettes suitable for a cover of Life dot the gardens and in fact you will find paintings of some of them in the house.  It will be hard to move past the wide front porch into the house, but enter you will and the wow factor continues.  A spacious hallway is flanked by the cozy parlor with books, a piano, a fireplace, and super comfy furniture and the dining room where guests gather each morning to enjoy a sumptuous breakfast.  Pride of place belongs to the caricature of owner Lorry's father, Howie Mann, band leader and drummer, drawn by Al Hirschfeld, famous NY Times caricaturist.  The guest rooms, each with large private bath, show off Lorry's decorating skill to perfection.  Showcasing your hosts desire to help you relax is the separate massage room!  Perhaps the greatest assets to this home are owners, Jerry and Lorry, who so love running a B&B and have so many fun and interesting talents, stories, and insights to share.

A Butler's Manor: This B&B's location within walking distance of the train station and the posh village of Southampton is not the only thing to recommend it. The rooms are decorated with such a sense of balance, charm and beauty that guests not only feel privileged but welcomed and comfortable. The common rooms are cool in summer, warm in winter, and delightful all year round. You'll have a breakfast suitable for serving at the finest NYC restaurants, and perhaps topping, but certainly matching, any memories you hold of breakfasts you had at your grandmother's or that little place in France. There's an outdoor pool framed with specimen trees and bushes, a back porch covered with wisteria, a fireplace, books, and fresh flowers everywhere. Best of all, however, are the owners, Kim and Chris Allen. You will be especially comfortable in their presence, and after a weekend at their B&B, feel especially privileged to have met them.

Located in the tiny hamlet of East Marion, a short distance from Greenport Village and minutes from the North Fork vineyards and wineries, this historic bed & breakfast is a wonderful addition to the East End of Long Island. Built in 1886 and lovingly restored by owners Ellie & Rick Coffey, this spacious, fresh, and light-filled B&B is an ideal place for the bride-to-be to relax with family and friends as she prepares for her special day. The Coffey House also provides couples with all the amenitites and ambience to complete that perfect romantic getaway. Overlooking Greenport Harbor, Harbor Knoll with its superlative landscaping and gorgeous views may well be the most elegant accommodations in North Fork Wine Country.  The old fashioned main house has five beautifully decorated guest rooms, a front porch from which you can watch the ferries pass by, and a gorgeous dining room.  A new addition to this beachfront B&B is The Enchanted Cottage which, as the name implies, is truly magical.  Complete with window boxes and rose covered arbor, it has a spacious bedroom, living room with convertible sofa, kitchen, and small enclosed porch.  Guests at the cottage may share in the sumptuous breakfasts served in the main house each morning.  Shops and restaurants are all within easy walking distance of Harbor Knoll so that guests arriving via public transportation can have a great time without having a car.

Just cause for celebration is the changes at Freddy's House Bed & Breakfast this year. Innkeepers Dan and Prudence Heston have been planting hundreds of hydrangeas, perhaps the most splendiferous of flowering shrubs, and when they are in bloom, it will be an amazing site. The exceptionally charming 1798 farmhouse has been fully restored with two guest rooms in period décor and provides an authentic and non commercial experience. Breakfast is informal, but oh so luscious with the freshest fruits and homemade jams right from the farm. If you are looking for a truly unique experience in one of the most historic homes on the East End, you really do want to stay at Freddy's House.

This B&B has found its true essence through the talent and vision of its new owners. It reminds me of a beautiful chest of drawers that had been painted, but now is stripped down to its original wood and beauty. Joan, Karen and Howard saw the beauty of the architectural details at their new home and through their delightfully light touches, allowed them to stand for themselves. The simple beauty of this true farmhouse is seen not only in the wrap around porch and country kitchen, but also in all the small touches: a bunch of wildflowers in a royal blue pitcher - an antique quilt displayed on a wall. The rooms have the perfect juxtaposition of creativity and authenticity. Its views are of farms and vineyards, its scents are of wildflowers and grapes. Its feeling is timelessness. Round the corner to find historic farms, green fields with horses grazing, and working vineyards. This is the North Fork as it once was and in some places, still is.

Shorecrest Bed and Breakfast is the only B&B that has views of Long Island Sound. Hotels, Motels, Inns, & Resorts

There are few "chain" hotels on the North Fork. These maintain the degree of hospitality, cost, and ambience for which the corporations are known. Far more motels/hotels/inns are privately owned. Those listed below have been personally visited by North Fork Weddings.

This brand new condo resort is stupendously located on the North Fork of L.I, and is one of only a handful of places with water views. The sunset views are not be outdone anywhere in the world. Not only is the resort new, but this concept is rare on the East End which has mostly small motels/hotels and B&B's. Short of owning your own place or renting a house for the season, this is a very comfortable, convenient, and luxurious way to spend time out east. All condos are two bedroom/ two bath, sleep 6, have flat screen tv's, full kitchenettes (even a wine chiller!) and wi-fi. There's a heated swimming pool and laundry facilities on site and if you have a large group or family, it offers multi unit special pricing. It is located only minutes from the Village of Greenport and the Shelter Island Ferry providing traffic free access to the Hamptons. I found the pricing surprisingly affordable so if you plan a visit this summer, you may be one of the resort's first guests!

If your idea of a fun weekend on the North Fork is to sip some Long Island wine while sitting in your comfortable room overlooking Peconic Bay, Dreamer's Cove Inn may be the answer.  Every single room is waterview!  Kayaks are available for use right on the inn's private beach and a wide sprawling lawn is ideal for BBQ's, weddings (it can hold a huge tent), frisbee, or just searching for four leaf clovers.  A casual beachy atmosphere prevails with all rooms having beautiful light oak floors, wide windows to allow for sublime viewing, and even kitchens/kitchenettes.  This is the perfect spot for groups to get away as the sixteen rooms all not only look out on the water, but are all on the same level.  Imagine the fun the kids, your fraternity/sorority friends, or your wedding guests can have here.  The inn is under new ownership and management and the manager Chris was raised out east.  (He's also an veteran of Iraq.)  The rooms are large and some are especially romantic.  Do remember that this is a beach side inn and has that a seaside feel, not a Victorian B&B feel.  It is very conveniently located near all the wineries and is only about 15 minutes from the last exit off LIE.  If you want to hold a party, Chris will be glad to help you make it a really fabulous event.  (See Venues)

The Harborfront Inn is a 21^st century luxury hotel smack dab in the middle of a Norman Rockwell scene. The counterpoint of modern design in the lobby with its dark wooden floors and unique architectural details against the delightfully small town ambience complete with a carousel in the park and ships in the harbor balances perfectly. All rooms are spacious and have such amenities as Frette™ linens, flat screen televisions, CD stereo systems, high-speed internet access and massaging body sprays in the showers. (The bathrooms are just amazing, especially the Terrace Suite with its Jacuzzi tub!) The suites are truly magnificent, the largest having its own private 900-square-foot deck overlooking Mitchell Park, Greenport Harbor and Shelter Island. I just can't imagine a more romantic spot for a bride and groom. Many of the 35 rooms have similar views that are gorgeous by day or night. Every attention to your comfort and pleasure has been given: complimentary continental breakfast in the lobby in front of a fireplace and curved bar, local art in the hallways, lobby and guest rooms, a fitness center and inviting furniture. The hotel has been featured in many national publications and has received accolades from everywhere. It is convenient to all wineries, restaurants, shops, ferries, trains and buses. Truly a luxury, it is one you can't afford to miss.

The Portly Grape Inn and Restaurant is what visitors to the East End have been waiting for. Opulent and stately, yet comfortable and cozy, The Portly Grape is both an elegant destination and a comfortable retreat. Each room is individually decorated, complete with a king sized bed, grand furnishings, a fireplace, and most have balconies. For a large group of family and friends looking for an extended stay The Portly Grape offers 2 and 3 bedroom suites complete with living room, dining area and outdoor patio overlooking secluded grounds and a neighboring vineyard. What could be better for a destination celebration? Continental breakfast is included with your overnight stay.

There are very few resorts on the East End of Long Island and nowhere is there one more beautiful than The Pridwin Hotel. Located on the famous Crescent Beach on Shelter Island, this property offers guests a wide range of experiences. You can read by the pool, play a game of tennis, swim in the clear salt water, bicycle the shady twisty roads, golf, hike, kayak or kick back! The hotel is available for weddings, corporate events, and family vacations. Rooms are booked quickly in season, so be sure to make reservations early. My favorite time on Shelter Island is early fall, so be sure to ask about rates for this time of year also.

If you love the beach, this is the place for you! Each room overlooks the Long Island Sound and has its own private deck and beach! The rooms are decorated simply but nicely and there are suites available. Children are welcome though there are some suites that are for adults only. It has a swimming pool, tennis courts, and cocktail lounge. One of my friends always has her parents stay there as her mother is wheelchair bound and the inn is so easy to navigate for the handicapped. Parking is directly outside the rooms and there are few, if any, steps through the entire establishment. The Soundview Inn is the only real resort facility on the North Fork.
