Welcome to Our North Fork Bed and Breakfast

Enjoy a true East End Experience
Our beautiful home has welcomed guests from NYC to Los Angeles, Europe and India.
People ask us!
 |
Why did you open your house as a B&B? How long have you had it? |
 |
We opened in 2000 when our two daughters grew up and left home and we had sold the last of our
horses. Jay is a practicing attorney, but Marguerite missed the bustle of life in the house. She loves
to cook, decorate for holiday, and garden. When a friend suggested that she open as a B&B, she decided to
give it a try. |
 |
Aren't you nervous with strangers in your house? |
 |
Not at all! We have not had one bad experience. In fact, a great many of our guests become our
friends. We choose to live a life based on trust and so far, it has worked. Visitors to the
North Fork are a special type! |
 |
Why are you less expensive than some other B&B's? |
 |
There are two reasons. The first is that our home is truly a home. It is where we raised our
children. Ironically, Jay was Town Attorney over 25 years ago and wrote the code to allow B&B's
in Southold. Little did we know we would someday benefit! Because our B&B is a home, there
is a shared bath for the two guest rooms. While this puts off some people, most do not find it a
problem at all, especially Europeans and groups of four. There are many B&B's in the area that
have Jacuzzis, computer portals, and televisions in the rooms. We do not. We just have a beautiful
home we choose to share with others. The second reason is that we want people to pull out of our
driveway at the end of their visit and say to each other: "Wow, that was great and so worth it!" |
 |
What are the rooms like? |
 |
Each guest room has a queen sized bed, a/c, ceiling fans, and terry cloth robes. They are decorated
to reflect our love of horses since our family rode together for so many years. Guests can also
sit in the living room to read, watch TV, play chess, or chat and have a glass of wine or cup of tea.
While we try to keep the kitchen and back room private, we will gladly put things in the refrigerator
for you. |
 |
What about breakfast? |
 |
Marguerite serves breakfast in the dining room and guests rave about the table setting and the
food. If any muffins are left over, she'll give them to you as a snack later in the day. Her apple
strudel is in high demand too. Coffee/Tea is made available upstairs for early risers. Guests
often read the paper in the living room or outside in the garden over a second cup. |
 |
Do you take children? |
 |
Yes, but only if they can sleep in a room by themselves. We don't have cribs, cots, or high chairs.
Often couples come to Wine Country for a romantic weekend, and it would be unfair to them to have
children at their breakfast table. If you want both rooms, great! We love kids. |
 |
Are you pet friendly? |
 |
No, we are not. We love animals and this year we lost our beloved Jack Russell, Trinket. She was
our greeter and so many people miss her. However, now that she is gone, we can't have other dogs
here. Sorry. |
 |
We're getting married on the North Fork. Can we reserve a room? |
 |
We are the perfect place for your favorite aunt and uncle, friends, and family. We do not accept
brides or wedding parties. We also do not accept reservations more than 30 days prior to the stay
and this may be a problem for you. Marguerite owns the website NorthForkWeddings.com and she would
be happy to offer her advice on the area Just give a call. |
We invite you to share our home and enjoy the North Fork as it is mean to be enjoyed. Sit in our garden,
nap in the hammock, ride a bike to the wineries, walk to Horton's Point Lighthouse, listen to the
spring peeper at the corner pond, drive to Greenport for a carousel ride, pick apples, or walk to the beach.

Return guests almost always ask about Trinket. She passed away on March 18th, 2006.
We miss her terribly but her playful spirit will be remembered at Always In' forever. |
